Australians give up the gaspers

Smokes out of favour

Something I've looked at intermittently over the past few years: household expenditure on tobacco and cigarettes.

It's not all that often you get to say that a policy has been a smoking success, but the introduction of plain packaging for cigarette sales on 1 December 2012 has been just that.

Appropriately enough, expenditure is measured here in chain volume measures terms.

Household consumption expenditure of smoking is slowly but surely being snubbed out.

Good to see!
